Making new friends

Okay, so these friends have been here all along, but Vieve is just now becoming really interested in our 3 kitties - Sophie, Max, and Stanley. She watches excitedly as they walk by and tries to engage them in conversation. She has, too many times already, reached out to pet them and ended up with a large clump of fur in her hands. They just put up with it for a while and then walk away - they are such good sports! We are not sure what they are going to do once she can chase them ;). A couple of times she has tried to eat one of them - maybe it is time to start solids already! This pic is of Vieve and our two favorite guys, Papa and Stanley.

Afternoon at the library

Today Vieve and I spent the better part of the afternoon at the library. She was so good, no screaming this time. We can't wait until the book babies program starts up again in the fall. We checked out a stroller full of books and CD's, mostly for her. She received a sticker for participating in the summer reading program. Last time she got a book "If you were my bunny" - it's too cute, mama animals singing lullabies to their babies. I won a drawing at the library for a gift certificate to barnes and noble - wonder what new books are in the baby section there. It was a beautiful day and we really enjoyed walking to and from the library and by the park.

Ready, set, SIT!!

Vieve is sitting on her own!! She is such a big, strong girl now its hard to think that she is the same floppy little baby from just a few short months ago. Sigh! She is growing and developing so fast it is hard to keep up with her. She started sitting almost 2 weeks ago (July 21st) but as she still takes headers in every direction I could not get far enough away from her to take a picture until now. Can't wait to see what new trick she has up her sleeve next!

Weekend fun

Last Saturday morning Vieve and I went to some garage sales and really hit the jackpot. We got her 3 cool new toys, 8 darling little outfits (i.e. the jumper in the photo with papa), and a jogging stroller (crazy good bargain!!). She is still a little small for the jogging stroller, but hopefully this fall we will be able to cruise around town in it. Just because she will be in a jogging stroller, does that mean that I have to jog?? Let's hope not.

Saturday afternoon Memere, Auntie Sarah, and Uncle Rob came over for a visit. We all had a good time chatting and trying to pull off Uncle Rob's beard as you can see in the picture above. Sunday morning Vieve and Papa spent some quality daddy/daughter time while I went to tai chi class then the three of us hung out at the house for the rest of the afternoon. Good times!

Vieve's got on her cranky pants!

Well, it was a rough week for Vieve after getting her shots. She did not run a fever this time which was good, but was just not herself for about 6 days. She did not laugh for 4 days straight and barely smiled all week. She really moped around and just wanted to cuddle, eat, and fuss. It was just so sad.

We are hoping the shots will be easier on her as she gets older. This week was no fun and we do not want a repeat. Her next round of shots is scheduled for August 24th, after visits from the family and our mini-vacation to the mountains.

Ouch, shots!

This morning Genevieve went in to get the rest of her 4 month shots. She was having a great time at the doctors office until the needles made an appearance. She was a little upset with the nurse and I, but seemed to forgive us fairly quickly.

Vieve weighed in at 12 lbs. and 10.5 ozs. today - 10th percentile for her age. She has always been tall and skinny, but that seems really low to me. The nurse said not to worry because she is otherwise healthy and happy and that there are so many "obese" babies out there these days that are factored into the percentiles. So, we will be keeping a close eye on her weight to make sure she doesn't drop any more. Thinking that this may be the right time to start solids - yikes!

A fun day with Kensley

Vieve and I had a great time yesterday hanging out with Kensley and her mom Amanda. We went to bilingual story time at the festival plaza here in town where the kiddos heard stories, sang songs, and played with a parachute. Vieve seemed concerned when all the other kids disappeared under the parachute and was very relieved when they all reappeared safe and sound. After that Amanda and I took a nice long walk while the girls napped in their carriers. We returned to the house and played/napped for the rest of the afternoon.

Kensley is almost 11 months old and is so big, mobile and very talkative. It was so fun to glimpse into the future to see what Vieve will be doing soon - walking, talking and trying to drink from the cat bowl ;) Made me realize how much babyproofing our house still needs. She will be up and around and into everything before we know it!

My Drooli girl

Well, Vieve is officially a baby model! V is featured in two places on the Drooli Creations website which is owned by one of Vieve's Auntie Melissa's friends. She has lots of bibs and the darling blanket that are all Drooli's.

http://www.droolicreations.com/ - From the toolbar at the top, she is under "Club Drooli" at the top of the page and under 'blankets' on the "Products" page. Auntie Melissa (also wearing a bib - ;)) and Uncle James are also featured on the Club Drooli page in a shot from their wedding. Check it out!

Does life get better than this??

We have had a really fun day so far. This morning, Vieve and I had singing/story time and then she took a bath. My friend Jodie came over to hang out and we walked down to the coffeshop for carrot cake and iced drinks. Very soon after Jodie left V took a nap and I was able to practice my Tai Chi. I am very excited about returning to Tai Chi class this Sunday, hopefully Vieve will appreciate having a more balanced and in-shape mommy.

We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new baby pool for the back porch! This was a surprise present from Papa - yay, Papa!! So, look forward to some cutesie bathing suit pics (she even has a matching sun hat!) in the very near future.

This warm and fuzzy day leaves me wondering...does life get better than this??

Pepere's Visit

WOW! What an exciting week! Jeff's dad (Pepere) came to visit. Vieve had a great time getting to know her grandfather and especially enjoyed pulling on his beard! Pepere kept her company in the back seat while we drove all over the place - Estes Park, Fort Collins, Boulder, and to Auntie Sarah and Uncle Rob's house.

We all had a really fun time and Vieve had many firsts this week - first trip to the mountains, first (and second) hike, and first time in a swing at the park. Saturday, Vieve and I went with our friends Jenny and Ashley and thier little girl Adalynn for Vieve's first trip to the farmer's market there and had a wonderful afternoon on Pearl Street and playing on the grass at the courthouse.

and Vieve makes three...

It's hard to believe that Vieve is almost 5 months old. She has already grown and changed so much we can hardly believe it. So, to catch up on the last 5 months here is a very brief summary of Vieve's life so far.

Genevieve Elena was born one week late - but at least it wasn't Valentine's Day!! She weighed 7 lbs and 2.3 ozs and was 19 1/2 inches tall. Jeff's mom (Memere), Auntie Sarah and Uncle Rob were at the hospital to meet her when she was born. Vieve spent her first hours of life in the NICU with mama and papa watching over her - the next day she was deemed healthy enough to stay with us and came home one day later. Jeff was able to take off 2 weeks to spend at home with Vieve and I - it was great to spend this time as a family of three for the first time.

Since then Vieve has had many visitors come to meet her - my mom (Nana), Auntie Melissa and Uncle James, and Jeff's dad (Pepere) so far. She has already had meet and greets with other little ones including Jack, Kensley, Connor and Cooper. Vieve especially enjoys her playdates with Adalynn - although at this point it's probably more fun for Mama!

We are anxiously waiting for Vieve to start crawling, sit on her own, wave hello/bye, and get a tooth - all should be happening very soon!! This is where we will be chronicling Vieve's adventures and firsts. So, stay tuned to see what exciting events occur in the life of Vieve!
